At Akinox, we understand the daily challenges faced by healthcare professionals. Staff shortages, heavy administrative tasks, and scattered information are frequent hurdles we know well. To simplify processes, we create various tools, products, and services to encourage collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals. Through innovative technologies, automated procedures, and effective communications, we strive to improve healthcare service quality every day. Our mission is to create a future where everyone, regardless of their background, can access healthcare tailored to their needs, promoting a healthier and more fulfilling life.
We were among the first to explore virtual care long before it became a global trend. Indeed, even before Akinox was established, our founders implemented an innovative large-scale virtual care solution designed specifically to meet the needs of isolated populations in Canada's Grand North. In these regions devoid of roads and telephone networks, access to healthcare services was simply non-existent. Thanks to our telemedicine solution, over 60% of Quebec's territory has benefited from remote medical consultations (teleconsultations), marking the beginning of an era of more accessible healthcare for all.
In a world where technology increasingly shapes our daily interactions, it is natural for the healthcare field to also adapt digitally to provide more efficient and accessible services. It is in this spirit that Akinox, in collaboration with the government, deployed Primary Care Access Point (GAP) in Quebec, a major advancement in the healthcare landscape. The Primary Care Access Point (GAP) provides user-specific recommendations and indicates options available to those having trouble accessing healthcare services. This transition to digital represents a significant transformation in how healthcare is delivered. By adopting innovative technological solutions, we are paving the way for increased accessibility for all citizens. The benefits of this transition not only include easier access to medical services but also overall improvement in care quality. This joint initiative between Akinox and the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS) reflects a shared commitment to improving access to more effective and accessible healthcare services.
In 2017, we played a crucial role in collaborating with the College of Family Physicians of Quebec to implement the eConsult project, which helped avoid 40% of referrals to specialist physicians. Shortly after, we joined forces with the Quebec government to launch the Agir tôt program, focusing on early detection and intervention in case of developmental delays in children aged 0-5 years, including physical health and well-being, social skills, emotional maturity, cognitive and language development, communication skills, and knowledge.
This ambitious project represents a proactive response to a crucial societal need: ensuring an optimal start in life for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background. By working hand in hand with government authorities, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders, we have established a robust network aimed at early detection of developmental delays and providing tailored interventions in the early years of life.
The three main axes of this project are surveillance, screening, and early intervention. Led by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, in collaboration with partners such as CHU Sainte-Justine and the Directorate General of Information Technology (DGTI), the Agir tôt program has already achieved several notable successes. It has met its delivery deadlines, developed key components faster than expected, and received praise from families and healthcare professionals for its effectiveness. To date, approximately 80,000 children have benefited from the program. Their growing numbers testify to the positive impact and relevance of the Agir tôt program in Quebec society. Furthermore, our commitment to continuous improvement drives us to go even further. The next goals of Agir tôt program include expanding its resources and scope, with the addition of new specialized questionnaires designed for even earlier detection of developmental delays.
This strategic expansion will allow us to reach more children and families, ensuring equitable access to quality services across all regions of Quebec. We are committed to continuing our mission of prevention and early intervention, ensuring that every child receives the support needed to thrive fully and realize their potential. By setting ambitious goals through 2028, we pledge to remain at the forefront of efforts to promote children's well-being and build a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
Virtual care, automation and remote patient monitoring are key elements in empowering patients to take control of their healthcare journey. These advancements offer more flexible access to care, streamline administrative processes and enable proactive monitoring of patient health status, thereby promoting personalized and effective care.
